A keyword search requires that you follow a few simple rules. Here are some ways that you can perform a keyword search.

| as a phrase | words are searched as a unit (not separately) in the order entered |
| topic example: | managed health care |
| must be entered as: | "managed health care" |
| all of these | all the search words must be present |
| topic example keywords: | children divorce |
| must be entered as: | children and divorce |
| any of these | either some or all of the search terms must be present in a record |
| topic example keywords: | adolescent youth teenager |
| must be entered as: | adolescent or youth or teenager |
